The Sixth Amendment

“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right … to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.”

Hale & Osei is three criminal defense lawyers on Charles Street in Baltimore. We take that sentence at its word.

A note from the founding partner

A promise is only as good as the person who keeps it. The right to counsel doesn't mean a lawyer who meets you in the hallway five minutes before your name is called. It means someone who has read every page of the file, stood on the corner where the stop happened, and asked the questions the police report skipped.

Most people who call us have never been charged with anything. They are frightened, often embarrassed, and they want to know what happens next. We tell them plainly, in writing, and we keep telling them until the case is over.

We are a small firm on purpose. A partner leads every case, from the first call to the last hearing.

In practice

Every claim here has a case behind it.

  • Dismissed

    A stop needs a reason.

DUI, first offense. The dashcam showed no traffic violation before the officer pulled our client over.

  • Charges reduced

    Weight is not intent.

Possession with intent to distribute, reduced to simple possession. No scale, no packaging, no messages.

  • Not guilty

    A fight has two stories.

Second-degree assault, jury trial. A bystander's phone video showed who swung first.

  • Expunged

    A record can end.

An old misdemeanor theft charge, removed from public court records so it stops surfacing in background checks.

Sample matters, shown as illustrations. Every case is different, and past results don't guarantee a similar outcome.
